New preprint on ArXiv! In this work, we explore a new method to launch, focus, and spatially confine phonon-polaritons native to hyperbolic materials such as hexagonal boron nitride. By achieving an almost perfect alignment (< 10 nm) between the gold nanoantennas and shaped hBN crystals, we explore the implications of geometrical optics in media at the strong light--matter interactions limit.
